BLISS YOUR LIFE WITH BLISS HOT YOGA

Practicing asana together with pranayama (control of breath) in a heated room cleans your body systems. The heat will increase blood circulation, stimulate metabolism and flush toxins (detox) from the body. Moreover, practicing yoga regularly will improve the functioning of respiratory, digestive and hormonal systems in our body, ensuring healthy inner organs and preventing a wide range of illnesses.

Ganesha Yoga Shala

Yoga at Atsumi

Yoga simply means Union. We practice Yoga and Meditation to become United with all that is. When we are United with the flow of things then life is no longer a struggle and it becomes joyful, blissful and easy. The way to this Unification is through the transcendence of “I, Me and Mine.” When we are able at any time to transcend the illusion of the primary importance of our personal agendas and the personal self. When we are able to silence our internal dialogues, and connect with the voice of Truth and Love, then all of our behaviors, rather than being Emotionally Reactive become Loving Responses to all of Existence. The physical aspects of Yoga, the asanas, were created to bring the body into a state of optimum health and wellness so that this state of Union, of Meditation, or Samadi, can become an integral part of ones ongoing life. The principal activity of The Way of Atsumi is the daily practice of the one-hour Atsumi Morning Meditation Ritual. We perform this ritual at the center from 7.00 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. each morning in the open air to maximize the renewal of our Life Force. The ritual consists of four, twenty minute segments, and is a way of renewing our Body, Mind and Spirit and ‘Re-minding’ ourselves back on the path of Love, Peace, Creativity and Joy. The Morning Ritual is an excellent daily resourcing strategy and in addition a full Traditional Yoga class of 90 to 120 minutes, two or three times a week is also highly recommended.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is an authentic and in-depth tradition. It emphasizes the “Vinyasa”, a Sanskrit word meaning “breath linking movement”. One Asana (posture) is therefore linked to another in a correct order like a flow. This practice, done correctly under the guidance of qualified teacher, not only purifies and strengthens the body but also leads to clear and calm mind. The Mysore Class---named after the city in South India where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois currently teaches---is unique compared to other Yoga Asana classes. Students are taught to do the Asanas on an one-on-one basis, hence they can practice at their own paces, with guidance and assistance from a teacher when necessary. This peaceful environment allows students to easily tune into their breath---the vehicle by which the body and mind are observed and eventually transcended. Sukko is honored to offer traditional Ashtanga Yoga in the same method as taught by the Guru.

Bikram Yoga Phuket, Thailand

Bikram Choudhury is an internationally renowned yoga teacher from India who has taught over three million students. He brought his system to the United States in 1971 at the invitation of the American Medical Association. Bikram's yoga is a routine of 26 poses which works the whole body in

90 minutes. The poses work synergistically and cumulatively to return the body to a balanced state. The yoga builds energy, stamina and flexibility. It incorporates strength, challenge, gravity, balancing and most importantly the tourniquet effect. This technique allows the stretching, squeezing and massaging of the internal organs, flushing out the cardiovascular system and stimulating the endocrine and nervous systems in order to release any deficient hormones and enzymes. The body is self-regulating and self-adjusting. As we age our

muscles tend to get stiffer, creating more pressure on the joints. By regular stretching we prevent this gradual stiffening and joint deterioration and that is why yoga has a rejuvenating effect. Through a regular workout we liberate a vast amount of energy which we can use in our daily life to feel more alive and self fulfilled. We look, move and feel younger. In a three year research project at the Tokyo University Hospital, Bikram helped doctors prove that yoga regenerates tissues and thus helps cure chronic aliments.

Phuket History

Phuket is the modern name for the island, and a variation on the older spelling ( a Thai 'T' has been substituted for a Thai 'J' in the Thai language spelling of the word ) which evidence shows was itself an exact translation of the word 'manikram', used by Tamil visitors from India as long ago as 1025 A.D.(B.E. 1568). It means 'Crystal (or jewel -like) City.' Because Phuket was a well-known stop among sailor in ancient remains, maps, and texts, the oldest of which is Ptolemy 's dating from the early 3rd century A.D., where it states that in traveling from Suwanapoom, (the'Golden Land' : identified as the Southeast Asian Peninsula) down to the Malay Peninsula, one passes 'Cape Junk Ceylon', which is a name often seen on old maps applied to Phuket.
There are also references in Thai history to Phuket being a part of the Shivite Kingdom of the Malay Archipelago. Later, from the period of the Sri Vichai Empire to that of Siritam Nakorn, Phuket was known as "The Town of TakuaThalang" being number 1 1 in a group of 12 towns that took as their badge the sign of the dog. Phuket was associated with Takua Pa until the age of Sukothai. During the Ayuttaya period, the Dutch arrived and built storehouses to use in the tin trade. Thus the northern, and central parts of the island were governed by Thais, and southern and western portions were where foreigners came to buy tin ore. During the beginning of the Rattanakosin, that is the present period (c. 1780), the Burmese King brought his armies to attack various cities in Thailand, and came constantly to attack Thalang in the south. At that time the governor had recently passed away. Khunying Jan, the governor's wife and Khun Mock, her younger sister, ollected forces to fight with the Burmese army, and finally defeated them on March 13, 1785 ( B.E. 2328). The King Rama I raciously bestowed upon Khunying Jan the honorific title, Thao Thep Krasattri, and upon, Khun Mock, Thao Sri Sunthorn. Afterward Phuket grew and prospered through the mining and sale of tin.
